On the Cedar Stage @ Harvest Gathering 2009
Eleven year old Magdalen Fossum of Ann Arbor has been around music her whole life. With parents and older siblings who sing and play, Magdalen began singing at two, writing songs at four, informally playing piano at five, and by the time she picked up the fiddle and ukulele at age seven, she had begun to perform semi-regularly in cafe’s and open mic’s in the Greater Lansing area. Named one of this years (2011) Open Stage Performer of the Year by The Ark in Ann Arbor (she'll be featured in their Open Stage Showcase on May 11th along w/ Steve Kovich) and recipient of the Elyse Fishman Music Scholarship by the Wheatland Music Organization, Magdalen is carrying on the tradition of folk music in Michigan. Performing old traditionals and original songs, Magdalen delights and inspires with humility and good cheer.
